The first session is usually a relatively informal session that is about getting to know each other and beginning to explore the issues and concerns that have brought you to therapy. It is also an opportunity to find out more about counselling in general, what it involves and what you can expect from the process. Towards the end of this session, there will be time for me to tell you a little about me, my experience and my approach and for you to assess whether the type of counselling I offer will be of use to you.
If you feel you would like to proceed with counselling then together we can arrange for either a number of sessions you would like to attend, (often useful if you are looking to work on particular issues that you might be looking to resolve) or we can arrange for maybe longer-term open-ended therapy, which can be useful if you are looking to work on more general life issues. Whether you choose short or long-term therapy. However long you choose to stay in counselling is up to you.
Regular sessions are weekly and take place at the same time and on the same day and last for fifty minutes. Sessions are available at £45 per session (an additional cost of £10 per session applies for couples therapy).
If you cannot attend your regular session for some reason, I do have a cancellation policy. I ask for a weeks notice of intention to cancel. If you are able to provide notice in advance of this time period then the session fee does not apply.
